More on Gigaclear work

The Parish Council has received no notification for the work currently being done on Hamshill.  The first we heard about the total road closure was a post on Facebook, just before they closed the road, from a member of the gang doing the work. Gigaclear claim to liaise "as closely as possible with the local community and Parish Councils" which is clearly not what has happened.

Today we met on site people from the county highways dept and Gigaclear.  They acknowledge that the lack of notice about this road closure was not satisfactory.  We are told, perhaps more reliably, that the work will continue down to Field Lane and then return to Trenley Road where they will make their way round to The Ham.  It's not possible to use traffic lights when they are installing cable in the only footpath on a road, as is the situation from Trenley Road down to the bottom of Hamshill, because there is insufficient room in the road for their equipment, pedestrians and a lane for traffic.  When they get to the bottom of Hamshill they will bury the cable in the verge and from here they will use traffic lights.
