Coaley Art Club

The art group meeting on Tuesday evenings at 7.30 p.m. in the Jubilee Room of the Village Hall. We are a friendly lot and would love to have some more members! Do not worry if you have no experience, all are welcome. There is only one thing we insist upon, that you enjoy yourself and you are not afraid to have a go. We have a varied programme so we can share our ideas and expertise. This is not compulsory and should you wish to come and follow your own particular interest you are more than welcome.

Coaley Brownies

1st Coaley Brownies meet on a Monday evening between 5.30pm and 7.00pm in the Coaley Village Hall during term time. We love to play games, make things, sing songs, and much, much more. We also plan extras like trips out and Pack Holidays. Girls must be seven years old to join Brownies and can stay until they turn eleven, but usually move to Guides when they are ten. If you would like more information about Brownies or would like to be added to the waiting list then please do not hesitate to contact Brown Owl. Coaley Guides

1st Coaley Guides was formed in February 2004 because there were not enough Guide units in the district for all the Coaley Brownies to move on to Guides if they wanted to. Our ultimate aim is to have some fun and we meet on Mondays from 7.15-9pm in the Village Hall during term time. Much of the programme is down to the girls but we like to do crafts, play games, get out and about and much, much more. You need to be 10 to start Guides but we do have a waiting list. If you would like more information about Guides or would like to be added to the waiting list then please do not hesitate to contact Anne. Coaley Produce Show

www.coaleyproduceshow.org.uk Coaley Produce Show has been held since 1942 on the first Saturday in September. Every household receives a copy of the schedule through their door, inviting them to exhibit in the Vegetable, Fruit, Flower or Floral Decoration classes, Home Economics, Arts and Crafts or Children's classes. Entry forms are taken to the Village Hall on the preceding Wednesday between 5pm and 8pm and exchanged for numbers to ensure secrecy. The Show is open to public viewing at 2pm on show day, followed by teas, an auction and prizegiving. Cups are awarded for the most points in each section. The Committee also stages a Garden Challenge Cup competition, the last Sunday in July. Features are changed each year and have included hanging baskets, tubs and troughs and whole gardens. Coaley is blessed with many beautiful gardens and we would encourage you to enter as gardeners value the informal chats and hints and tips received from the judges. The AGM is held in the autumn followed by a light-hearted talk. The Committee would welcome new members, only 2 meetings per year to attend plus Show day. We are proud to have kept the Village tradition going for so long, with approx. 500 entries being staged by almost 100 people every year. Come and see. More details from Secretary Helen Wilcox, Tel 01453 860281 or Chairman Marion McDowell.
